I popped my copy of GT6 into my PS3 for the first time in months at approximately 4:45 P.M. today. In the three hours that have passed since then, my PS3 has downloaded all of the available updates and is about halfway done with installing everything.
I had to delete stuff off of my 80GB hard drive to accommodate it all, too. Good thing I don't plan to buy any more games or DLC for my PS3, LOL.

Shit like that makes me glad about not having played any console games in a while. I bet the thing would take ten years to update all my games given how long I've been out of the loop, lol.

Same. I rarely played GT5 as it was and even less with so many updates. Sold my PS3 for a G27 for my PC :)

You know what I miss? Games that you can just put in & play, every time. Not games that, when you have a brief window of time to play between work, fatherhood, and sleeping, hit you with a huge update that prevents you from playing at all. Guess that's what I get for being an 80's kid.

IMO, I'm okay with updates and DLC if most of that is planned out and coded in advance - the updates such games tend to be small and/or few in number.
For games like GTA V and Gran Turismo 6 , where they're in it for the long haul and roll out content and features as they're finished, there tend to be a lot more updates. I cut GTA V some slack since I'm pretty fond of that game and Rockstar usually doesn't put out huge and/or buggy updates for it, but I'm not particularly keen on the Gran Turismo franchise at this point.

This happens to me all the time. The little time I find to play games I'm stuck downloading an update.

I haven't played GT6 since early summer. I'm afraid to see how long it will take to update.

I installed gt6 on my lads ps3 the other day. ...... 6 god damn hours later and it had Finished, or so I thought. Tried to play it and another 45 minutes later we finally managed to have a race. Gotta say its better than gt5, it seems more fun.

This is the reason I stopped playing GT6, and it's the reason I still play NBA 2K13. After NBA 2K14 came out, the updates stopped for 2K13.

It is terrible frustrating... And then, like a month ago, my wife turned of the machine while it was downloading/installing, so I had to wipe all game data and start again from scratch.

Good grief… apparently it’s been a while since we’ve played GT6. I thought, “hey, that sounds fun today” and turned it on. System update… sigh, ok… While waiting I pulled out the steering wheel and set it up. Done? Sweet, start up the game. Updates? How many?? Start updating them… and wait… Figure that damnit, I set up the wheel, I *will* play today. Still waiting, go pick some rhubarb outside and fully make a delicious crumble. Popped it in the oven and I heard the music start! I was smart and set a timer to remind me something was baking (before I smelled smoke…) and “hit the road.” I forgot how much I adore my Mine’s Skyline!
